Solution. There are many ways to try and diagnose this problem, they are:

1. Reset the CMOS using the jumper on the motherboard, to find this please look in the motherboard manual.

2. Is the power supply powerful enough for the spec system? Do you have another power supply to try?

3. Run the system out of the case to make sure that it is not shorting out on the case.

4. Run the system with as little as possible (no hard drives and extra cards)

5. Do you have another video card to try? If your running an SLI or Crossfire setup try one card installed at a time.

6. If the motherboard needs one make sure that additional 4 pin or 8 pin ATX2 power cable is connected. If your motherboard has an 8 pin socket and your power supply does not you need to connect the 4 pin ATX2 connector to the 8 pin socket on the board, the socket is designed so you can only fit a 4 pin connector onto the correct ins on the 8 pin socket. Also does your video card require additional power form the PSU via a 6 or 8 pin connector?

7, If the board supports dual or triple channel memory make sure the memory is in the correct slots.

8, If you have two or more sticks of memory try running the board with only one bit, if there is still no post try another bit just in case its the memory causing the problems.

9, Is your CPU compatible with the motherboard? you can check this on most motherboard manufacturers websites.

10, Is the CPU installed correctly, try re-seating it. Inspect the CPU / CPU socket to make sure none of the pins have been damaged when the CPU was installed.

11, If your using an Intel i3, i5 or i7 system and your using onboard graphics does your cpu support onboard graphics. Some of the newer Intel cpu's like the i5 760 will only work with a PCIe video card installed. If you search the cpu model number on google and click one of the first links that comes up to ark.intel.com/Product.aspx********** you can check to see if your CPU supports integrated graphics.

Hi
i recently purchased an asus p5k se mobo at novatech and am also experiencing the no post problem I have tried all suggestions in the above post but still have the same no post issue. I have come to 2 conclusions, either the mobo is dead or my memory is not compatible. Im not so hot with memory types etc. so wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. this is my setup

Asus P5K SE mobo
Pentium D940 duo 3.2ghz
1 gig stick of kingston 533 mhz ddr2 ram (dont have any other sticks to test)
ati x850xt
jeantech 500watt psu
also have tried anantec 550watt but no luck

i noticed in the spec of the mobo on novatech 533mhz is not shown, only 1066*/800 / 667 MHz, would this be the problem? i dont want to fork out for new ram unless im certain. Please help, i have never had problems with asus boards before.

You'd be better starting a fresh topic on this...but...

You could try connecting the supplied motherboard speaker and running it without any memory. It should beep.

Officially you need DDR2-667 memory here. But I would expect a FSB 400 processor like yours to run memory at DDR2-533 speed.

In fact, Corsair seem to think that DDR2-533 will work OK:

So, it's a bit of a toughie. :?

Anyway no guarantees ... BUT there seems to be some weird conflicts with the P5K and certain video card chipsets, mine was a ATi 2600 chipset, but I don’t claim to know the entire list of others that might have similar issues..

I 1st tried other cables, LCD monitors, motherboards nothing... even another graphics card with the 2600 chipset, and the only way I could get it to POST with a 2600 graphics card is via a DVI to VGA converter on the back of the graphics card to a VGA input on my monitor. My LCD has the ability to use a DVI or VGA cable.. I suggest anyone with a similar issue try this if you need to get the POST and get into BIOS. It POSTs fine then. I don’t know why and this is not acceptable to me but until I can find out why this is how I can get into my BIOS.

This past week I tried a video card from N Vidia and it posted fine with a DVI cable and no converter, go figure! I mean this chipset is designed to work in crossfire mode and that is only ATi chipsets, I mean it wont even work with SLI setup of NVidia… strange and ATi and ASUS pretend they have never heard of the issue, I will not be buying ASUS again they have poor customer service at best and with a multi billion dollar firm you think they could locate their customer service in an area with a better internet bandwidth, as they certainly have the resources to better their website speed and customer service... Their website is horribly slow...

So in the end if you want to get POST then you need to use a VGA plug converter for your graphics card. This is aggravating at best as the motherboard is designed for over clocking and tweaking the BIOS, just ridiculous that one must put this stupid connector on every time should they want to get in BIOS. Other than this without this connector the PC will usually boot in 30 or 40 seconds direct to Windows welcome screen.

Hope at least for a few out there that this has helped... Certainly with all the bugs it wont solve everyone’s dilemma

My PC has stopped showing any video output.

I bought my MBB-C2D635 Motherboard Bundle Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1024MB just over a year ago.

Now the PC seams to start OK, all the lights on the drives flash, spin and the PC beeps like normal but I can't get any video output from the PC.

I have tried different Monitors, cables and Video Cards. The monitor and cables work fine when connected to my laptop.

I've done factory resets and cleared the cmos but no matter what I do the Monitor just tells me its going into power save mode when I turn the PC on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the Asus Crosshair.....and my suggestion is stay away from it. The lcd post never works when you really need it to. The fancy blue leds are only useful for people who build pc's in the dark. Mine worked for about a month before it died....and died badly. Now i gotta wait for a new motherboard and it seems that gigabyte is a better alternative. Gigabyte also has shortcomings...not enough space for all the cards....etc...but still better than asus. Do not try a 3.2ghz processor chip with the crosshair....it cant handle it....even if asus says it can....trust me....its a **** mobo. Alos make sure you have a massively huge cooler on the CPU or go straight to water cooling. None of that max orbe ****.....it looks nice but its just no good for a powerful processor....i would suggest Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 for AMD chips over 3ghz. hope it helps.

I finally got my Foxconn M7pmx-S board, with a 2.20GHz E2200 Pentium dual-core processor chip, I put the board together, and I cannot get my display to work, the most it lasted for 3 or 4 secs, till the screen went black. The computer fans, and hardrive do all the normal beeps, and humming and I see the lights, but nothing on the screen. I moved the jumpers to do that cmos thing, and im clueless what my issue is, I saw this thread so I wondered if anyone could offer some guidance. My Graphic card still has not come from newegg yet, but i figured the onboard videocard would be enough to get the computer running. I also have a second exact computer im working on, the same exact issue.

yea i had this problem, there are two 4pin connectors that come from the power supply. TRY BOTH OF THEM! One will work and one wont! On my board there is are 2x 4pin female plug sockets. One side has a black cap over it to remind me which side to use.
Try swapping the power lead over to the other, second 4 pin plug and see if that works. The orientation of the plug means you may have to use the second female connectors on the mobo depending on which mobo you have.

:) Hi there, this is my first post. I'm having the same problem. Fans running power LED on but no video display. I bought a Foxconn A6VMX motherboard complete, ready to go from Novatech. Everything is connected as it should be. Except I dont have the 4 pin power plug on my old power supply so it is not fitted to the new motherboard. Is this the problem?
Thanks to all in advance.

That 4 pin power plug is for the CPU afaik, so yes it is a pretty big problem lol :p.
