Im looking at purchasing one of these as a file server for a local lan party event I co run in Southampton and was wondering if you know much about them?

What I want to know is will it bottleneck if you have 16 people all connecting to it at once using a 3Com 10/100 network switch and weather or not it would be beneficial to our needs.

At the moment, we have a normal P4 machine running 1.2tb or storage connecting via a normal 10/100 nic. Would there be much of an improvment speed wise?

Oh, the link is here (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?BUF-TSP2TB)[/url]

I've just had to rescue the data off a 1TB unit that failed...

The device really didn't fare too well with a failing drive. I put it into another machine & rescued all the data that was still there - although I intend to file some bugs against the kernel XFS driver, which really wasn't spectacular.

I shouldn't imagine that will worry it too much.
