Today I built myself a secondary system using a Celeron D 336 (kindy donated by scrivz69 :))
just thought you might like to know how i've been getting on.

It's currently at 4.2Ghz (stock 2.8) on 1.47V (VID=1.38) 100% stable :)

Paired witha 8600gts 256 (bought here on the forums) it managed an impressive 5K in 3Dmark06

Any advise on further overclocking?

Full system Spec:
CPU: Celeron D 336 (90nm prescott 256kb L2)
Mobo: ABIT aw9d-max
RAM: 1.5GB generic DDR2 PC4200
GPU: Leadtek 8600 gts 256mb
PSU: Generic 600W
Case: generic midi tower
HDD: WD 160GB
Optical: DVD

nice little system, for general use (so far) can't tell it apart from my dual core

What cooler is it under? What temps are you hitting?

Arctic cooling freezer 7 pro and i'll get back to you on that one :P
In bios (80% load i gather) it was at about 40C

What can i use to monitor temps? coretemp doesn't support this CPU :(

We've established that the BIOS does not put any load on the CPU whatsoever.

What you can use is RealTemp (I think) or SpeedFan to monitor your temperatures.

ill run a 3Dmark06 CPU test and see what i get as max temp :)

i don't think it's detecting my CPU on speedfan :S not supported by realtemp either- core arcitecture only
I've set it to shut down at 70C in bios, so i'm pretty sure it isn't breaching the 70 mark

They don't get to hot as it is only a single core.

Keep pushing if you ask me :) I got one up to 5GHz on my ACF7P and it was able to do SuperPi etc.

for some reason the bios keeps reverting back to 219 everytime i try and change the FSB higher, i suspect that my PSU can't handle it because it also does the same thing if i increase either the northbride/CPU voltage by too much, i only managed to get to 219 rather than 210 by lowering the CPU voltage so i think it may be a power issue, may try tomorrow with my decent PSU

Mhmm they aren't great clockers. Does it POST at 220? Try dropping the multi a bit and see if it'll post at 220 or 225. You may have hit the FSB wall :(
