Andrew Moore
04-10-2009, 09:28 PM
Its back at 4.2, couldnt live with 65 idle and 98 on core 3 under load..

that is a world record on air i think

Andrew Moore
04-10-2009, 10:13 PM
Not quite, there's been quicker! Not stable for benching, can only bench at 4.6ghz, 4.7ghz often blue screens under any ounce of stress.. But I've hit 5 and I'm happy!

Andy

Get a few deltas & go for the air record :D

you think you could hit 5ghz+ stable on WC? we'll find out soon enough i guess :P

Andrew Moore
05-10-2009, 07:34 AM
Possibly.. its pretty unstable at 4.7 only being able to run 3dm vantage when things are fresh and cold... at 5ghz it boots into windows, can go on the net (just) but anything more than that, even superpi crashs things or makes it blue screen. Could prove difficult me thinks.

Hi there

That is incredibly good going m8!

What motherboard and memory are you using?

Andrew Moore

Classified with 12gb of that OCZ reaper stuff you gave me at a bargain price the other week so much thanks for that one there Gibbo!

Hi there

All makes sense now, that Classified board is king for overclocking with. :)

Well i suppose if you need to do some emergency cooking that could come in handy :D

This will help a few degreese but there is only so much heat an air cooler can dissipate at once. I managed to get an E8600 up to 5GHz on air with a very high CFM (around 110CFM) on my TRUE but it idled at 70 and I didn't want to load it at all!

Mr. Lime
05-10-2009, 04:25 PM
I always visualized some kind of very high speed wind tunnel with the MB bolted down and like a very large heat sink strapped to it :D lol

TheMadDutchDude
05-10-2009, 04:27 PM
LOL. As I said. There is only a certain amount of heat a cooler can dissipate at once which is why us extreme overclockers resort to dry ice or liquid nitrogen in specially made, full copper pots that weigh upto 3KG's!

Only lasts 2-3 mins before it shuts down but all I wanted to do was see if it was possible.

Those screenshots are FAKE!

42x multi on a 920? Max is 21.. Hah... stupid fool who created those fakes!

There is no way in **** they would make it that far. Noone has even cracked close to 300 BCLK so, how would they get (if he was right...) 380 odd?

Mr. Lime

Literally speaking youd fry your board long before you got there, and thats if you could make it not cut out somehow lol

tbh .. i think frying the board takes a lot of effort.. youre more likely to just crash.. and thats it.. unless you can manually controll the bios in windows in some suicidal way.. like.. remove heatsink and increase volts by 12 xD

Slightly back on topic - what settings / voltages you using Andy ;) ?

:D

Mr. Orange
06-10-2009, 03:56 PM
surely 1.388v isn't that much... even for a 45nm, used to push 1.36v through my e8200 for 4.26Ghz.
