Maxtor 3200 personal storage (DEAD)

Hi my maxtor 3200 personal storage (external harddrive) has died. does not start any more. when novatech repair/replace this are they able to keep the harddrive information thats is stored and just replace the casing.

i think the harddrive is fine and is just what powers the harddrive that is dead.

i cannot phone the 0800 number as i am currently abroard.

any advice would be greatly apreciated

edit: it is not the powere supply cable as i have already tested it.
