Okay after a loooong time using novatech with utterly flawless tech and help, ive finally had 2 phonecalls that made me want to punch a wall with 2 utterly unhelpfull saleshelp reps.

I purchased "Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit & 64-Bit Edition DVD - Retail", and forgive me for maybe being a tad thick, but to me that suggests that for £210.32 inc VAT that i would recieve Windows Vista on a DVD containing the 32bit and 64bit versions of the retail variety as the description reads this fact in black and white.

Package arrives, im all excited, only to find (and no i didnt know this was normal as the webpage doesnt mention it at all) that you only get the 32bit version, with instructions for visiting microsofts webpage and at your continued expense (not much but still not right) that you order the 64bit DVD from them and have it posted to you.

If i knew this beforehand i would have purchased the £66 32bit only version and left it at that saving me a lot of time and more importantly lots of money, because i am clutching the 32bit version atm, and it cost me over 200 pounds which i cannot return due to no mistake of my own.

offending weblink - http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?MS-VHPR+++

I opened the box yeah, because on the outside the only place (when i got my glasses out and had a look at the small print) that it mentions 32bit only is on the underneath in small print, yeah great the sales person said as much, but the main gripe is that the webpage doesnt, i and i would expect others would agree that if your order states something, then you should recieve exactly what is stated.

ordering the 64bit version states i need the following.

You'll also need to supply the following information: Your name
Your shipping address
Credit card information
Card type
Card number
Expiration date
Billing address

Media choice
Your e-mail address**

ill take a stab in the dark and assume that my debit card wont exactly cover the credit card bit.

incase anyone noticed, im not a happy bunny with novatech atm.

My own daft mind says that if a person buys a car in a garage, he would get the advertised car, not get the car and then be told after he buys it that the steering wheel comes seperate at a minimal fee in another garage.

Fortunately i'd allready read about this, pretty bad advertising - i've seen a lot of online retailers have changed the description now, but not Novatech yet.

OMG. Is that true that the retail version is 32-bit or 64-bit and not both  I was shocked at how expensive the retail version was but it was nearly worth considering when you got both versions. That's shocking if you don't
I'd think you'd be perfectly within your rights to ask for a refund IMO as the adverisment clearly states that in contains both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

I agree!

A company shouldn't advertise something, which they cannot promise. - False advertisement.

unfortunatly the sales people told me that because theres some really small print on the underside/bottom of the case stating its the 32bit version only and i cannot send it back because i opened the box without reading the aforementioned smallprint hidden underneath.

The print does indeed say this, but to read it you have to hold it, if you hold it youve already bought it, when your about to buy it, this is not mentioned.

The sole reason i bought the package was to obtain the 64bit version, the 32bit version would be a safe fallback option if the 64bit version did not function correctly.

granted ive been given the finger over the phone but at least change the webpage description so no-one else makes the same stupid mistake as myself.

i went to 1 shop trying to get a gfx card to test then return it, using a "my mate needs it and doesnt know whether it is AGP or pci-e etc etc etc"

anyways, they wouldnt take it back and would only give 10% back to me if the box was opened, if the box isnt opened then it would be a full refund.

Thing is though (relating to your comments on the website)
alot of other websites said the same information given out by the big cheese, so it is technically not novatechs fault, they were just stating what the bigger people have told them to say as a description, most websites that sell items use all the info from the manu's site, but yea

should be changed as soon as they can

just to make it clear to everyone. you still get the 64bit version when you order the 32bit and 64bit retail versions. the reason its not supplied in the box is down to microsoft. as you have a retail copy of windows if you have any issues they are the ones that will give you the aftersales support if you need it.

i have been told that the reason the supply the 64bit disk in the box is because when you call them they will check your system will be ok with the 64bit version before they ship you the dvd.

i am not sure. it was only yesterday that i found out that the 64 bit dvd's are not in the box. if there is any cost i think it will only be a few pound postage.

They send you the DVD if you pay them to send it, granted its not much, but forking out for delivery is taking the mick when you just spent a load of money aquiring something thats not bundled.

if you dont pay them, you dont get the 64bit edition at all.

I don't think so, because you buy can buy OEM 32bit and OEM 64bit seperately.
