Hi All,

Thanks for reading.

I have just purchased a barebones Pentium 4D system
item no: BB-PD9451

I have installed vista Ultimate oem (which i got when I purchased the rest of the hardware i.e. hard disk dvd writer).

All installed great, but only ONE processor shows up in windows, and one cpu graph etc.....

When the bios screen is displayed it shows (2 cpus) after the cpu description, am I missing something here, I have tried everything under the sun now and am getting deflated!!!!

many thanks in anticipation

Dave.

Can't help you with vista things, sorry - I'v stuck to XP for the time being ;)

Under XP however, that would just be the wrong HAL detected and installed, and you can change it the device manager. (under computer section)

let me know if it helps or if vista is completely different.

isnt there a bit in the task manager that splits the cpu usage graph in 2 if you have dual core??

Thanks for the replies.

Under computer all I have is:

"Advanced configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC"

nothing about multi-processor etc..

Been trying all day again to no avail

:(

perhaps it shows it as one... try doing stress test that only uses one cpu. does it goto 50 or 100% usage?

go to task manager, does it have 1 graph or 2
go taskmanager>performance tab>view>show graph per cpu

check for tabs?
