Link to an article from Anandtech - some P55 sockets don't make good contact and heavy overclocking can literlly melt your CPU:

Definately worth checking if you're wanting to overclock your P55 heavily

I don't know, my motherboard hasn't had any problems. Speed is lovely and it's running W7RC perfectly.
The sockets have most problems when heavily overlocked - which is taking it way past manufacturer's specs anyway.

If you were a serious OC'er I'm sure you could do something to limit the likelyhood this'll happen with a Foxconn socket - maybe manually tweak the pins with poor contact.

By high overclocks we are talking 5GHz with high volts. It draws a lot of current (if I remember correctly, around 16A?) which will lead to it. You should be fine with every day overclocks but I'd still be a bit careful if I were you.

Ooh, for those who are interested... the new eVGA P55 Classified WILL have a LOTES socket and has 300% more gold content than other sockets providing maximum contact and quality.

as long as you don't use LN2 to overclock, you are fine.

anything below 4.2Ghz should be no problem.
