I have an Executor running XP Proffesional, which I installed myself. I installed all the motherboard drivers OK.

When I play a CD or DVD the sound crackles. I have tried changing from digital to analogue sound, but this does not work.

I notice there is no audio connection from either of the DVD drives to the motherboard, should there be one?

I have updated to the latest drivers for the on board Realtek sound.

No, the CD Audio cable from the back of the Optical drive is no longer needed and has not been needed since Windows ME. This is due to the fact that Windows now uses digital extraction for Audio rather than playing directly from the drive itself.

When you installed the drivers did you install the Jmicron / RAID Driver.

The IDE Bus on the executer is a seperate chip as Intel chipsets now don't have built in IDE support and use a secondary controller for IDE Support for Optical Drive.
We have had issues reported where customers did not install this drive got stuttering Audio playback. Does this sould like your issue???

I did not install the RAID driver, as I configured the drives as 2 seperate drives instead.

I will try this.
