If you are getting power no post (power on self test) with a new motherboard check these few steps:
1. If there is one check the 4 Pin 12V connector connected to the motherboard.
2. Check that the memory is seated correctly in the motherboard.
3. Check that you have the monitor connected in the correct socket in the back, if you have installed an AGP or PCIe card make sure the montor is not connected to the onboard VGA if the board has it.
4. Try Resetting the BIOS by removing the mains power and the BIOS battery or by adjusting the alocated jumper, see your manual for help finding this.
5. Check that the PSU is compatable with the motherboard eg. Powerful enough Watt's. If you have another one try it.
6. If you have installed an AGP or PCIe video card does it need additional power?
7. Try removing the motherboard from the case and running it setup on the box. If this works check the case stand off's to make sure they are all in the correct places, if one is wrong it could cause a short and stop the PC posting.

The 4 pin ATX connector is shown in the middle of this photo:

Hi,
I recently bought an asus m2n32 - sli Mobo combined with Ocz ddr2 ram (stock code ocz-p642gk) I figured that this would be compatible with the motherboard. However when it is installed i suffer from a no post error as described. Without the memory installed it performs a ram error code.
I currently have a theory that the asus default timings are stopping the memory from posting. Can anyone confirm this for me? I can't seem to find these settings on the web atm. Any suggestions as a quick fix around it?
Id hate to return it to u guys just to have the same issue again.
(Please note that I have submitted a email to the tech support department, but i figured that it may be a good thing to post on your forum incase anyone else buys the same combination)
Thanks in advance.

Isnt there an option in the bios that auto sets the RAm timings so they run correctly??

Unfortuantly I have no idea, can't get to the bios screen :( I read somewhere that AMD is particular about its timings on the ram and since DDR2 is new on the amd chipset I kind of assumed that it perhaps is down to the timings being geared to intel. Where the default settings on asus are geared to the more usual amd timings that is stopping the (extended latancy?!?) memory from posting.
But hey, we all know what assumptions are :)

Ouch, you have my sympathies with this one. £300+ outlay and no post.
Looking at the specs, the Mobo is configured to take the 800mhz ram
Dual channel memory architecture
4 x DIMM, max. 8GB, DDR2-800/667/533, ECC and non-ECC, un-buffered memory(ASUS website)
and the ocz is 800mhz, so technically it should work fine.
However, its not unheard of as you say, for an nForce chipset to not like the ram its been given. nF2's were picky about their ram too.
This however is worrying.
To fill the growing demand for DDR2, the first member of the Platinum XTC family is the PC2-6400 EL Platinum XTC edition; OCZ specifically developed these modules for the extreme gamer and overclocker to give high end Intel based systems that extra performance edge that is demanded by today’s hard core gamers and enthusiasts.
It might be worth trying some different ram, as like you say, the extended latency *might* be causing compatability problems and hence no post.
Its always the problem with new tech, has a few wrinkles that need ironing out.
Might be worth e-mailing ASUS and see what brands they tested the board with before launch, to get an idea on what its more likely to accept.

Kinda goes without saying that im a lil miffed! Unfortuantly the only 800mhz alternative that novatech do is the £300  corsair pro. So unfortuantly looks like I won't be getting the pc up and running due to having to order from another place!
Novatech may wanna start stocking the corsair xms 6400 cas 4 at a more reasonable £200.
