This error is appearing frequently in my Event Log (Novatech PC-0879T installed with Vista 32bit Ultimate):
"ACPI BIOS does not contain an IRQ for the device in PCI slot 28, function 5. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance"
What does it mean please?? Please ask if you need the serial number to help you track the hardware used in this barebones PC.

ok, I guess I can expect no support from Novatech on this one....
N
It means the ACPI BIOS does not contain an IRQ for the device in PCI slot 28 - hope that helps :D
Nox
PS ACPI is some power management malarky
Are there any error codes or Event IDs?
Check in the device manager, see if there are any "!" next to any devices.

How can I tell what device is in PCI Slot 28?
Whatever these errors are, I am getting LOTS in the event viewer.
Nigel
PS: No devices in Device Manager have got an ! exclamation against them.

Have you taken the pc back to novatech for any tech support? or maybe run it by microsoft forum help?
They may have ideas... Just search in google for Microsoft Windows Forum...should bring it up because ive been on it before :) hope this helps a little bit

If its not causing any crashes or performance problems, it's probably safe to ignore it.
Try checking in the BIOS and there may be a setting that say something along the the lines of "Plug and Play aware O/S" or "PNP O/S". Make sure this is set to Yes (Y). Also try your Motherboard manufacturers website.

Only performance issue I'm aware of is QuickTime 7.1.5 slowing down iTunes playing video & synching video to iPod. But I think that's just Apple....
