after ive built my new computer im going to mod my old one into my bed side table.
specs for bed side table mod.
current rig:
asrock k8 upgrade 1689
amd 64 754 3000+
128mb Fx5200
80GB hdd
1024 mb Ram

additions.
12" fan (the ones you steal from caravans)(just me...okay then)
duh...... a bed side table.
15" tft monitor that pops up.
lots of random stuff

any critisisms/suggestions/insults are welcome, apart from that last one

I would strongly recommend that you insulate the wood against heat in some way. Although this is unlikely to be a safety hazard, you will find that wood tends to absorb and store heat which could lead to stability problems.

I'm a big fan of 'stealth' mods, hiding as much gadgetry (and noise) away as possible!

Keep us posted

Heat problem,solved by;
12" fan at bottom(intake),2X120mm fans(exhaust,Top)
Case side panels to insulate sides.(get some cheapy case panels for all sides)
OR go for a 120mm cpu water cooling
And another 120mm for gpu water cooling (no fan on gpu at the moment)

Monitor
Go in seperate compartment, prevent dust build up

Wiring
The motherboard will go in the middle of the "structure"
so there will be no loose wiring.

This is a very rough drawing, im not good at drawing but it should give you an idea of what im going to attemp to do.

I've thought about mounting a TFT on the ceiling above my bed so I can just lay there and watch it without getting neck ache, but the cabling would be a nightmare and I'd worry about it falling down and killing me in the night

I love the idea of the table mod, although the wife thinks I have to many computers as it is without another one entering our private chambers

Sneak a laptop in every night.... works for me!

I hve decided that I /need/ at least 8 computers for complete happiness.. The bedroom is the perfect place for a few. :P

He's that messy everywhere, I've cleaned up for him though and must admit to feeling sorry for his g/f. Computers in the bedroom?

"your plugging that into the wrong port honey"
