How do i move my Master Boot Things, all the details of windows from my primary drive (Vista) to my new main Drive (Windows 7), i cannot figure out how to do it.

I need to know as im going to format my Vista drive so i can use the space for things, and merge my 500Gb partitions from my F1 into 1 TB

I think you can do it by disconnecting all hard drives except your Windows 7 drive then perform a repair install on your Windows 7 drive. Although I could be wrong.

That method didnt work Cnr, it couldnt find the install. I really need to format the Vista drive, but i cant atm as its housing the MBR.

Partition your win 7 drive in disk managment within win 7 os and create a new simple volume, then use a hard drive cloner to clone vista volume to win 7s new volume, You may need to shrink vistas volume in disk managment before you clone.

My drives are like this

500Gb - Vista
1Tb - 500Gb Games - 500Gb Downloads
1Tb - 200Gb Win 7 - 800Gb Downloads

I want to loose Vista for a Backup Drive, and merge the 2 500's to give me a 1Tb back.

I got the impression you wanted to keep vista and move it to your win 7 drive!. To join 2 drives together they have to be the same i think,and your have to set up raid in your bios. I have never did this but I am sure someone here can help you.

My 1Tb has 2 partitions, i want them merging back into 1.

Vista needs to go to give way to some Back-up space with the 800Gb of my second Terrabyte drive to be used for overflow.

I have the same problem and the one thing that looks like it may help is easybcd, it certainly allows you to edit the MBR but I am not sure if it'll move it too, I haven't had time to find out yet so let me know how you get on. You can DL it from here

Cant you just delete the partition in disk managment in win7/vista and then extend the drive back up to 1tb.

If the boot loader is on the drive that you delete then the system won't boot cos it can't find it, its possible that after deleting the partition that a repair on win 7 may work but I think its a little risky.
If it all goes wrong you'd need Hiren or LiveCD to get to the data again. Its possible that easybcd could fix the problem from there but I am not sure.

If it helps, i need to move 'System' to the Win7 drive, so i can drop the 'Vista' drive.
