I recently purchased a NOV-MP3M2G (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-MP3M2G)

The mp3 player works great.
The Pictures in the "photo" section come up nicely.
The voice recorder, no problems.
The FM Radio? flawless... works a treat.

There are, however; 2 major problems:

1. The Manual: "minimalistic" would be putting it midly! I've found this no help whatsover, which ties in directly with...

2. Video Files: The device just wont play them. The best I have been able to achieve is audio only, never any picture / video.

According to the spec, the player can dipslay:

WMA
WMV
ASF

Well, all I get is a blank screen with the filename. Pressing "play" does nothing, and sometimes it even locks me out of the "menu" button as well.

I have tried using the "Transcoder" software that comes with the cd which half the time refuses to work, and half the other time converts the file, but the device refuses to play it!

Can anyone help with this please? or have similar problems?

OK, a bit of an update on this one:

I have managed to get a video to successfully play on the player. Lots of files I have still refuse to work (which is odd, as they are all either .avi or .mpg format so they should be fine)

What I *would* say though, is that if you try to use the Transcoder Software that comes on the CD, it pops up a "preview" screen of your video before it begins transcoding. If it shows an image, it will probably be ok...

...if its blank (black) then dont even bother - it will Transcode and then just not play.

If I find out any reasons WHY, I'll post here.

- Thanks
