news has been spewing out for weeks now, and in some cases months.
nvidia will be launching their new 7900 series of cards very soon, in a couple of weeks infact (if sources are correct)
the cards are in 2 different flavours
gtx and the gt
also a 7600 will come out at the same time.
the 7900gtx has said to have 24 pipelines (same as the 7800gtx's)
but the 7900gtx can run with a core up to 710mhz(vs 650 standard) with air cooling and memory runs at 1.6ghz probably OC to 1.7-1.75(water cooling can probably get a few more out of it) manufacturers are going to be overclocking their cards to near this speed, but also throw in a life time warranty!!
the 7900GT card will be replacing the 7800gtx, they basically have the same performance but the 7900gt will be cheaper (thats always a plus)
the 7900gt will have 20 pipelines (sound familiar) and run at slightly less speeds (overclocking will change that).
all in all this should be able to get back at ATI, but seeing that the 1900xtx is at around 350 quid it will be hard to see what happens about pricing and sales.

I wouldnt mind one of those , but i think i have set my heart on a Sapphire x1900xt-x ;)

But the Nvidia cards are very competitive in price and performance.

Least ATI and Nvidia are 'hard-releasing' them now , when they annonce it they have some in stores and ready to sell.

I think Novatech will have some 7900GT/GTX soon ;)

NVIDIA has one more surprise up its sleeves for CeBIT. You all know that it will really announce its ghost Quad SLI systems. It won't be a Dell feature only; Nvidia will offer this monster to its other customers.
Nvidia plans to introduce 7900 GTX cards with two chips per card. Those cards should fit and work with normal Nforce 4 SLI motherboards. This is Nvidia's well kept secret - at least it was.

Normal Quad SLIs have four different graphic cards, especially designed by Nvidia. This new SLI will let you plug two new cards, each with two GPUs in your Nforce 4 SLI motherboard and it should work.

Those cards will need a lot of power but it will be cool to read a review of such a powerful system. This is definitely going to be a price and performance Bugatti but if you have a million dollar house you can get Quad SLI as well.

this has surposedly been leaked from somewhere, prob an ATI fan boy

this shows how the 1900CF dominates the7900gtx SLI
but if you look closely then there is only 200 marks difference, not alot.
this still doesnt confirm gaming performance.
we will still have to wait for some proper reviews to come out

Exatcly, the difference is equivilent to 141 vs 139 fps. The words "Who cares" spring to mind.

very very true

apparently on the 22 march dell are shipping limited quad sli systems with 4 7900gtx's in
7900's should come in 512 and 1024 mb
and a dual core PCB will cost about $499
thats quite a bit

I dont understand super duper graphics cards at all, theyre the most over-rated and over priced part of a PC

for £350 why not just get a whole Xbox 360?

True
But consoles arent that good anymore, need some original stuff coming onto it
pc graphics tend to be better
all games wind up on the pc eventually

However the 7900 GT is at a good price at the moment

Lets just get some facts straight, the 7900gt may look good price wise but you prob only get the same performance as a 7800gtx tbh
there is a review done http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/03/09/ati_and_nvidias_same_day_mega_launch_mayhem/

And this is before any new drivers come out to get rid of any glitches that will occur with a new piece of hardware.

Exactly.

Its cheaper and has the same performance.

on one of the performance graphs, the 79GT beats all other cards, a 7900GT will prob do most people.
You have to look at this realisticly, my monitor supports up to 1280.1024 and im not gonna sepnd more money than i have to, a 79GT will do me fine.no point spending money if i dont have to

i will still get smooth fps at 1280.1024 and max everything, plus, if i do need to upgrade then it wont cost me an arm and a leg, just a foot

Of course, I would have to buy an SLI board and 2x7900s. Death would result either from gf or bank manager... :p

There is no point of 2 7900GTX's at the moment, you are gonna get bounded by the cpu,get one 79GTX and wait to get another one if needed when the price drops

7900 stock drying up

This happens every time nvidia release a new card, they run out of the chips far too easily
ive been waiting to get my hands on one for ages but they keep going out of stock.i am currently waiting for a reply from a online retailer thats selling gigabyte7900gt's for£205, but it seems that every shop has begun to run out of them.

EDIT
i have now ordered my 7900GT, it took a while because i was suring around looking for a shop that had it in stock for a cheap(ish) price, it is possible to get one, you just need to look alot
