I was trying to play I Am Legend yesterday in blu ray on a 50in 1080p TV, with it connect to my laptop. The film looked awesome in HD but was spoilt a little by the occasional stutter and lag.

The strange thing was that when I played the film on my laptop screen it was perfectly smooth. (Laptop screen res. 1920x1200). I was playing using Corel's WinDVD 8. Laptop is an MSI GT725 with Core 2 quad Q9000 and Mobillity Radeon 4850 graphics so the lag definitely isn't because the hardware can't handle blu ray. I connected to the HDTV via HDMI and the TV was running at 60Hz refresh rate.

Any ideas on how to fix the lag would be greatly appreciated. Then I can have some awesome film nights with uni friends in our TV room!:xgrin:

Cheers

If it's vista, no suprise. It is probably the software your using, it can't use your hardware to the best of it's ability. Try a different HD multimedia player, there must be some around. Perhaps vlc supports it?

Do you get the lag when playing a different Blu-ray? You could always get a trial copy of Cyberlink's PowerDVD and see if you suffer any lag whilst playing Blu-rays with that.

Thats a good idea, I'll try that and see how it goes.

I don't think VLC supports blu-ray yet. What with it being proprietary and everything
