Novatech 2GB Colour Screen Media Player

I have bought a Novatech 2GB Colour Screen Media Player. It suggests in several places that I charge and discharge it three times before using it. At the risk of sounding really dumb - how do i discharge it?

would value any advise please?

charge it and completely run it flat, although i doubt it will make much of a difference, but im not experienced in this area
