Hi,

Would you say buying a CPU from ebay would be wise?
How would the 3 year warranty work with intel because im not buying from a shop.

Thanks

depends on the price, and whether its been used. Intel will know its manufacturing date, so that should not be a problem, will be warrantied from then. If it has been used, ask yourself 'why is it being sold?' then wonder if its because it wouldn't hit 4Ghz at 1.7v under liquid nitrogen...

Yes becareful especially if its got a high(ish) price tag on it.

Make sure that you have some sort of return policy with the seller as if theres something wrong with it or the owner has popped it then you obvious don't want to get stuck with it. If in doubt about the seller then don't risk it

My friend bought a CPU from ebay dead on arrival.
The guy obviously knew it was, he said he would refund my friend when he had some funds, he never did. He's taking him to small claims court now.
Obviously most sellers are probably genuine but you take your chances, personally stuff like that I'd just take a deep breath and buy new from Novatech obviously lol.

The Seller on the other hand also has risk cause he might sell a perfectly good working CPU that the buyer pops and then claims was faulty. So its a diffuclt one so in the end buy a new one and get manufacturer warranty =)

Did your friend pay with paypal ?

If its within a short space of time (3 or 4 weeks i think, possibly longer) your friend can open a dispute and claim his money back. Any emails agreeing that he would repay, I'm sure would help.

If he used a CC, then he should be insured by his CC company too.
