I got the X-10 for Christmas and I've been very pleased with the sleek looking little thing (apart from a bit of disappointment on the 'advertised' 5 hour battery life which is more like 2hours tops).

But anyway, I've been using Windows 7 Professional on it for the past 2 weeks without any problem. Everything was working fine, until suddenly today, when I tried making a videocall on Skype, and windows told me I didn't have a webcam installed...even though I've used the webcam for the past 2 weeks.

I tried disabling and enabling the webcam using the fn key and webcam symbol, but every time it enables the webcam windows says "USB device not recognized".
I've also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the device from the device manager but to no avail.

I did have a slight flash of hope when after about 3 tries of turning it off and on resulted in working for a while. But then after I shut it down, and came back to it a few hours later it had ceased working again.

What could this be? Anyone else having the same issues?

I have had a similar issue on my X40i laptop which Im sure is similar to the X10. I recently upgraded from vista to Windows 7. All seemed well until I tried to use my webcam (via skype) and it wasnt recognised. After messing around for a bit i temporarily solved the issue by deleting and then re-installing the driver. That worked for a short while but now it is totally u/s and the laptop doesnt even recognise its got a webcam ie when i look in the device manager it dose not list the bison webcam. Incidently which function key on ur machine enables/disables the webcam? Drivers can be found on the www.clevo.com.tw (http://www.clevo.com.tw) website.

F6 is the webcam key on the X-10...I think I've resolved the issue now...

What I did was take the "INFCACHE.1" file, located in windows 7 under "root:\\Windows\Sysem32\DriverStore" and deleted it. Then turned off the laptop. Took the battery out for about a minute to make sure it was fully off, and turned it on again. And so far the webcam's been working (for the past 3 days at least). Hope that works for you.

Been trying everything with no luck...so I think i'm up in Portsmouth this weekend, so I might take it under warrenty to novatech and get them to check for loose connections.

I've just bought a X10. The webcam works fine under Win XP SP3 using the default Microsoft webcam driver. But, on MS Update site, I saw there was a newer driver for it so I updated it and it stopped working :rolleye:. But I was able to get it to work by selecting the "Rollback Driver" in the webcam properties in Device Manager.

Maybe Windows 7 is automatically updating the driver? (I don't have Win 7 so don't know whether auto update includes drivers).
