my motherboard is a K8upgrade 1689 from askrock
its AGP slot doesnt support 3.3V cards
im confused about all of this
im thinking of upgrading my AGP card (so then i can have 1 ultra good pc and 1 okay pc(this one(E498)
im thinking of getting a 6600gt 256MB
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... NOV-6625GT (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-6625GT)
would this be compatible with my motherboard
would i need a 6 pin power connector for this?
also would a standard 6800GS 256MB be compatible with my motherboard
i want the best money can get, within reason
and would the 6800 need a 6pin power cable?or a 4pin molex connector
does novatech sell 4pin molex>6pin converter
if needed

As long as your PSU can supply the requisite power, your Mobo will support any modern AGP card that is AGP3
(Nvidia 4#00 series,5#00 series, 6#00 series. Ati above 9#00 series)
I got the Novatech 6600gt 256mb (recieved a XpertVision Card) and have been very happy with it. If you can get the 6800GS, give it a shot as it will be futureproof for longer (if anything can in this day and age of upgrades every 2-3 months)
Howver.
1. Check out the makers website for info If N will let you know what brand they are selling as their own stuff that is.
2. Google for any problems with that particular card when in your mobo.

Hence my post in the foxconn post, about websites and support.
A good user forum is always more helpfull than a supplier run one, will most likely even asnwer quicker than their proper tech support lines.
Case in point, Gainward where extremely slow in posting things when i used to ask for help and info on my old Ti4800se i had.
Where as I've never had a problem with my MSI gear (guess that 'd make me a fanboy huh).
glad i could be os some help, however little

All current AGP cards are 1.5v it's only old cards that are 3.3v.
would this be compatible with my motherboard
Yes
would i need a 6 pin power connector for this?
No, it has a 4 pin molex connector.
also would a standard 6800GS 256MB be compatible with my motherboard

As above.
does novatech sell 4pin molex>6pin converter

They don't seem to but it's not needed. I know where you can get them if required but I'm not sure if they'll like me posting links to competitors sites on here.
HTH :)
