I have recently bought an Acer Aspire 5542 laptop and was wondering if i might be able to upgrade the optical drive to Blu-Ray and how costly an exercise this might be. My laptop has an AMD Athlon Dual Core m4300 processor with a clock speed of 2.0 Ghz. Is equiped with 4GB DDR2ram and has an ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics card with 256MB of memory. The operating system is Windows 7.

I take it the answer is, it will only work if i radically refurbish the laptop. Will probably wait until it needs replacing in a couple of years time.

it shouldn't be hard to do. check what interface it has (ide/sata) and replacing it should just be taking a cover off and sliding it out, it may not even need to take a cover off.
