Hey.

I recently made a topic with the title budget PC. However it was kind of impossible to make a decent PC at that kind of price. So i am upgrading the price range to around £400-£450. I am 15 years old so my budget can not stretch to far, Thanks in advance.

I will be using the computer for gaming, game authoring and other high performance tasks.

My Preferences

Intel - (I have never used AMD, However i dont mind trying)
Nvidia (Never used them, would love to give it a shot)

sorry for large screen res. Prices have dropped over the last 2 weeks, i just picked up and antec 300 case for £45 just before last week, and i have seen RAM has dropped a good £10-£20 in this time as well.

Well in my opinion you would get a lot more power and performance out of an AMD set-up for your budget. The Tri-Core AMD here also has an unlockable core which means when you come to OverClock (OC) it (if you do) you will be able to squeeze 4 cores out of the CPU rather than 3. If you go intel you would probably be able to get a low end i3 or a dual core i5 if you skimp on components, but then you will only end up kicking yourself later on when you realise you want to OC a little and your board doesn't let you, or you miss out on a better graphics card. I got my son a very similar set-up a while ago, runs WoW at mid-high graphics at a decent FPS of 40 on mid settings. Now i feel that ATi are more advanced in the market than NVIDIA, they seem to be pumping out a lot of cards lately, they are also slighly cheaper than NVIDIA, just as Intel are to AMD. ATi are owned by AMD just to let you know.

£455 (Vat included)

Can change like 250 to a 5750 1gb if you wanted to and if you can push the budget some more can get a i5 quad but the i3 will do a great job.

Core i5 750

If you just get 2gb ram: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/Memory-PCAndLaptop/DDR3-PC3-10666/1333MHz/VS2GB1333D3.html
And the i5 quad it comes to around £475

Ok thanks. Which one of the above will be best for Multitasking / Gaming.

for multitasking possibly the amd setup, for gaming the intel setup by a mile. would go for a 5750 tho.

Shell out the extra cash and get the 5770 much better card.

yeah pretty much, also go for a better case if you can afford it or at least buy another 12mm fan for it. cases i would recomend would be the antec 300 or if you can stretch far enough the xigmatek midgard. the 5770 would also be a better card but the 5850 will be fine for a 19"res if thats the size your going for. but if going for more than that then the 5770 would be worth it.

The case I pointed out to will do the job fine, unless your doing some extreme overclocking I would not worry about things getting to hot in there, as long as you keep it dust free will be all good. If you can push your money further then of course get one of the cases recommended above.

The only problem is the 5770 is a dual slot card and on the reviews for that motherboard someone said it was not good for dual slot cards.

Ok cool. How many cores is i5? Because all their pictures are messed up. Their I3 CPU has a picture of an i5

I5 has dual and quad core versions. It says Dual Core Technology or Quad Core Technology in the description.

The CPU's I linked you to, first is the i3 dual core, then linked you to the i5 750 (quad core)

Of course, the Athlon II X4/X3s are still good value for money.

but they arent all that great for gaming, a good dual core such as the i3 will be better than them.
