Hi,
Does anyone have technical information on the Fenestra range? I've looked at the product info on the website but that doesn't have the sort of info I'm looking for.
Thanks

Hi,
Basically I would like to know the following:
1. Which make of motherboard does it use?
2. Which components can be upgraded?
3. Maximum memory?
4. Will the 1067 model run Linux?
5. Can the nVidia card be upgraded (later) and which chipset is it?
6. Noise levels?
7. Approx weight?
Thank You.

Ok
I will answer these as best i can.
1. Which make of motherboard does it use?
This product uses propriotry mainboard designed by Clevo. It cannot be changed out to anything else.
2. Which components can be upgraded?
CPU ( Core 2 Duo ) RAM ( 4gb in Future ) HDD ( Supports 2 ) Mini PCI-E Cards
3. Maximum memory?
4gb Max Support ( Please note that currently 2gb Modules are still being tested for approval as there is major compat. issues in the market in general with these modules at this time)
4. Will the 1067 model run Linux?
Linux has not been tested and at this time cannot be sure that all hardware will function. We will be testing Linux in the near future
5. Can the nVidia card be upgraded (later) and which chipset is it?
At this time the only Nvidia Card option for this unit is Nvidia GO 7600 256mb MXM module. No other supported modules at this time.
6. Noise levels?
These are very good IMHO, if you are local to our Portsmouth store we have one running in our Show Room.
7. Approx weight?
About 11kg

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I'm looking into placing an order for the 1067 model this week and your responses have certainly cleared some doubts that I had. I'm thinking of going for the option of no OS (I have XP retail) so I'm assuming this will come with all the necessary drivers for XP? Or do you think that having Vista will give me a better multimedia experience?
Thanks.

Yes unit comes with XP Drivers.
Personally i am using Windows Vista at home and have been since the launch in January. I know a lot of people have been anti-vista and are avoiding it till first service pack. I personally have had no issue using Vista and everything i do with my PC works fines. However some people may have issues depending on what other hardware you have and software.
So its kind of what you feel best suits your setup. Personally i would say go Vista if you can but if you have something that you know won't work in Vista then stay with XP and save a headache until you get the other bit sorted out.
4. Will the 1067 model run Linux?
Linux has not been tested and at this time cannot be sure that all hardware will function. We will be testing Linux in the near future
When its tested, any chance you can check the remote control too, and if you have time mythtv. Failing that, any ideas which chipset is on the tuner card?

Due to circumstances beyond our control we currently do not have stock of the base unit. Because of the time scales that are involved we have removed the unit from being advertised for sale as we cannot fill any orders for them at this time.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused
np - was chatting to the wife about getting one for the front room and I wasn't getting glared at :)
