old files locked?

ok so i took the plung and stuck in win 7 now its all installed i wont to install my old stuf and programs. Now when i try to open any zip or aplication installer i get error messages saying access is denied. or windows can not access the specificed device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

now i am the administator and am logged in so why cant i open them??

Try right click run as admin.
Try right click > properties > security > then check permissions see if your account has full control etc.

running as admin gets windows can not access etc
permistions gets: well my log in name is not listed (under group or user name) only sytem and a long number code?? how do i add my self?

EDIT: the mother folder has full permission to me but sub zip folders are access denied.

should be able to re-write the permissions

if you have differing account names when you upgraded you won't have the rights to access certain drives/folders.

Case of going into 'Computer' drive of choice - right click - properties - security tab- amend the security settings or if necessary add your profile name and assign security settings.

grrrr. right i have full controll of the whole drive, but still can't open the installers. same message.

ha ha cracked it. i had to add my self to the list. (very confusing thing to do) but yes done it thanks for the help you were right after all.

after owning the file.
right click > properties > secrity > (permisions) edit > add > advanced > object types > only tick users > ok > find now > click name > ok > ok > tick full controll > ok > ok
