Not sure if this has been posted before, probably has but I couldn't find it.

Novatech SERIOUSLY either needs to do some advertising, or put stores in more highstreet places (i'm not sure about the other stores) but the one in Portsmouth is in an industrial estate right at the end!! (next to some lovely boats if i recall :)) I only know about Novatech because I heard about them from Smudger, who he heard of our business studies teacher, and i've reccommended you to somebody else.

I know advertising would be very difficult, as it is the recession, and you don't sell branded PCs, and the target audience is rough because not alot of people don't even know what a motherboard is lol, but there must be someway, like putting out a message that it is cheaper to build your own PC and its relatively easy too (as the people can get help from us (the forum people)). You could also get us to write reviews for you, (which you could put in the advertisement).

I say this because very few people know about you, and it actually annoys me because you have excellent customer service, and thats why alot of people stick with you, so if more people hear from you, i reckon you will have and maintain lots of customers, as companies should be like yours. Whereas (I hope i'm allowed to say this as I'm not promoting them) other stores (such as PC World, Comet etc. have rather expensive products with awful customer service. And you offer more help with your customers as you specialise with computers. :)

I see what you mean, i only know about it because i once asked an American friend to spec me a build. It would be hard to do, but it's a similar situation to that of Linux. It's a better solution, but not enough people know about it ;)

Yea, they need some more (or better (not being mean) marketing people, as awareness is the key to success.

Excellent thread and I understand where you are all coming from but advertising is a very difficult thing to get right.

Not many people will come and buy a PC or laptop from someone they don't know (even if the have seen or heard an advert without a recommendation)

If they have had a recommendation then we don't need to advertise to that person.

A lot of people find us through the internet and then check the forum - where they can see how good we are through you guys.

We do advertise but only where we know we will get a good response - like local to the stores (which we will be opening more of)

We grow as our reputation for good service grows, we are a bit of a well kept secret but I would not say we are falling behind our competitors - we are still up there with the best of them in terms of bringing new products to market, offering services that they don't, looking after our customers in a way they like and a lot of the time on price. Yes some times we cost a little more but then so do John Lewis over their competitors. They have the best levels of customer loyalty on the high street and when you ask anyone about great customer service and an enjoyable shopping experience they will always come up one of the best.

I think our stores are better than anyone else in the IT industry and again as they spread so will the good word of Novatech

I do agree with you though we should advertise just a wee bit more:D:D:D:D

do you get a lot of sales through google shopping? if so i'm sure everyone here would be glad to leave truthful seller reviews if it'll help you out :)
