I have just purchased a new sound card from yourselves. When i went to install it tonight, instead of reading the manual on the disk provided i just barged straight into it. The card is a Creative Audigy LS. I pushed it into the PCI slot fine. Then i saw what looked like a wire connected to the motherboard just below where the audio outputs are. i presumed this needed to be conneted to my new sound card, so i pulled it out... however this turned out to be 7 smaller wires connected individually. they were labelled GND, Mic In, Mic Bias, Spkout R, Spkout L, Return R and Return L.

Then i started to worry and decided it would eb a good idea to look on the disk required for a manual. Where i thought the wires would be connected on the newcard, it says not to connect anything. So i reall started to worry and come on here.

I need to know how to connect these wires back onto the motherboard. Dothey need to be put on to particular pins or can they go onto any?

My computer is from novatech and about 4 years old. If you need any further details i can find them out for you.

Thanks in advance, help greatly appreciated.

they need to be put onto the correct place on the motherboard
on the motherboard there should be small labels to help.
and nothing needs to be connected to the sound card, it just goes in, install the drivers and away you go

the wires that you removed are for the front panel audio on your case. if you have added a pci sound card you wont be using the onboard audio so you dont need to connect these wires back up.

if you did want to connect them back up if you see the case section of the forum the first or second post has a generic case wiring diagram that you can follow.
