Sometimes TV's can support S-Video Via Scart. In my TV at home as an example i have two scart sockets. When i press my AV button on my remote it changes to AV1, then to AV2 and finally to AV2S. When set to AV2S my second scart socket is capable of accepting an S Video Signal using an S-Video Mini Din to Scart lead. You will need to check if his TV scart socket will support an S-Video Signal. If it does then its just a case of buying the correct lead.

he has bought a lead but he needs an adapter that it goes into and then put into the back of his tv

he has this lead

connector A

is there an adapter so it can go into a scart socket

If he already has a 4 pin S-Video lead to connect to fitting A as shown in your picture then all he needs as an adaptor something like this one should do it.

Did he also check that his TV's scart socket is capable of receiving S-Video on its scart socket(s)

I did this for a while untill I could get the moniter I wanted, the main thing I noticed was...
it sucked, the tv has a very low dpi and to make anything viewable I also had to put the screensize to it minimum.
(thou it ruled playing zelda link to the past again on a tv)

the cables I found around for vga to scart all only did black and white (lame) so I had to mashup my own,
Svideo out cable (male to female) (maplins)
Svideo Coupler (needed to change it from male to female connection I think or the other way around V_V) (maplins)
Svideo to RGB (maplins)
RGB to scart (maplins)

no idea how much the total cost was fun thou hunting down all the bits and im not sure it will work at all with your gfx card ^_^
