View Full Version : Probs with friends new asus board

Put a new asus p5n-e sli in a friends new build with and 8800gts etc etc, i lent him my intel 820 as it was best to wait for july 22 for a 6600, while installing xp my 820 just fried no hot temps or obvious to report just froze and that was that. Any idea lads?

please include BIOS version of mainboard as well.

When you say fried? do you mean system no longer powers on??

Thanks for the replies sorted it out now the ram he got with the asus board wouldn't work with it, I tried my own ram and it still wouldnt work so the only thing that i hadnt replaced on the whole pc was the cpu and mobo, but after looking it up it seems its a mother of a board for makes of ram so got to try a different make. Will let you know how i get on

good luck - found you pretty much always have to have a good brand chipset & mobo OR good brand ram.

I had similar a good few years ago, thats when i stopped using my own current stuff to try and fix friends machines - favour ended up costing around £200, but I did end up marrying her!
