Hello, I am building a new computer, I have got experience in building them but I am going to ask you guyz what to put in to it and what will be some of the best stuff to go for.

I was planning something on the lines of this:
Asus P5N-E SLI 650I Motherboard DDR2 PCI-E Gigabit LAN
Intel Pentium 4 935 Dual Core 3.2GHz LGA775 2Mb x2 Cache 800MHz FSB Processor
800MHz 240Pin 1024MB PC6400 DDR2 RAM DIMM 1.8V
Novatech GeForce 7600GT PCI-E 256MB DDR3 DVI/TVO SLI
OR
Leadtek GeForce 8600GT 256MB PCI-E
Thermaltake Soprano Black Middle Tower Case With Window NO PSU
LITEON 20x DVDRW / RAM Black Bare With Nero 7 Essentials
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit Edition DVD - OEM - 1Pk

ALL COMING TO £379.45 / with Leadtek GeForce 8600GT 256MB PCI-E £402.95
If you can find something better with in the same price limit, can you please post it on here :)
*NOTE*
I do not want AMD, I am only going with Intel, they are the best :D

I do not need a hard drive as I already have one and will just swap it in to the new computer, same goes with the power supply. I am going to be selling the computer to a mate how ever, leaving me no other choice than to get a new copy of windows, and I do have a spare hard drive lying in my draw which I will use.

*NOTE*
It has to have atleast a 256MB vga card with capabilities for widescreen computers, in other words it has to have a good clock core speed and memory speed.

Thanks, Please help me :?

Right 2 things, 1st you need to put a named brand of ram with that mobo my son's pc has that mobo and the normal nova budget ram DOES NOT WORK AT ALL IN THAT MOBO!![u].
You need to have 2g of ram in any gaming machine so this is what i put in my sons http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... CSR-VS662G (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?CSR-VS662G) works a dream!! 1g on vista will be like 512mb on xp. 2nd dont go for anything less than e6320 http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... l?IL-E6320 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?IL-E6320) in my eyes the e6600 is the best but I wouldnt go for the 935 at all!!

I would say that if you are running Vista and Gaming then 2gb of RAM is a required. I would'nt suggest anything less. I am still not convinced that 800mhz memory is worth the money. In recent tests between 533, 667, 800 and 1066 memory the performance difference was only 5% between 533 and 1066. With the cost of 800 modules still quite high ( For Certain Brands. Generic is quite cheap ) i wonder if the extra cost over 667 which seems at a sweet price right now is worth it. I cannot vouch for the results of 5% its just something i read but its not the first time i have heard this kind of thing. Some people may disagree with me on this but its just my current opinion. But running at stock speed can the cost be justified?? Thats a debate in itself!

Personally i would go with Core 2 Duo rather than Pentium D. In some circumstances Pentium D can be faster than C2D due to the fact that some programs still working on raw Ghz Power. However with the design of CPU's changing, we are now seeing higher cache levels with lower clock speeds and when software is optimised to really use this extra cahce to the full this will be where C2D will shine. So for future proofing i would go with C2D. I personally have E6600 and thats been great for me no issues at all. I would also say try to stay above E6320.

Don't skimp on the PSU. Very important piece of any system. All i am gonna say on this is you get what you pay for. So spend wisely. Its less head aches in the long run. Gaming machines want a lot from there PSU =)

But 2g is better for any gaming machine, for the smooth running of large areas and busy surroundings!!!
