what is my laptop ?

hi, I was given a Novatech laptop for my birthday in November 2007. I had no problems with it untill about 6 months ago. The problems are shown in the attached pictures and are as follows:

1) The screen has got a rainbow effect down the right side. is this fixable, or do i need a new screen ?

2) Ive looked into buying a new screen and fitting it myself, but I cant because I dont know the model of the laptop. Can anyone identify it ?

Its not essential for the screen to be fixed as I now how brought myself a new laptop, but would be nice to fix.

All models should be written on the bottom. They usually have a manufacturer sticker that says (often pretty small) just a model number. With that we can find out the relative availability of parts to repair and some average costs. Bear in mind however, screens are the single most expensive part and its not unusual to see the costs average £150.
