Hello,
I got my server today... Upacked it, hooked it to a monitor..
Finished the MS install wizard for SBS as I had that pre-installed. I set the password and so on...
It finishes up, restarts and presents the logon screen. Here's the problem...
I enter the password, and it shuts itself down. It says logging off, then after a while it restarts...
What should I do, re-install SBS myself, or give Novatech a buzz and probably have it re-turned?
Or is there a common problem with this that I dont know of?
I'm just a little annoyed cos it aint working!

I am just trying to get a clear understanding of your issue here.
You booted up the server and went through the intial welcome screens. Set Server name, admin password etc etc. Correct??
Then your server rebooted and came to the logon screen.
You then enter your password and the server shuts itself down straight way. Is this correct??

Hello Coops,
That is correct. I went through the usuall wizard setting server name, admin password and so on...
Got to the logon screen, logon.... and it logs off, restarting the server. If I don't enter a password and wait about 5 mins it also restarts.
For a split second it says some services couldn't be started (not visible most times), but I'm guessing this could be because it isn't connected to the network yet.
Shall I reload the OS? Or give you guys at Novatech a buzz?

Are you able to start up the server in safe mode by pressing F8 just before OS boots. If we can get in this way we could access event viewer to see whats going on.
Reinstall might fix it, i cannot say as i don't know what the cause is. But its a hassle free way of sorting out the issue if it OS problem. However i find it strange that this has happened on a new install.
The services failing to start could be caused if it has already began the shutdown process. ie some services trying to load when windows is trying to close

Booting in safe mode means that when you are supposed to press Ctrl+Alt+Del, it automatically reboots...
I have also tried this after disabling auto restart on system failure..
I think this calls for a reinstall. No biggy... If anything it helps me!!! Means I won't be implementing the new server until after the weekend now. :D
Every cloud has a silver lining.
