Can't say that the new cpu's or the price cuts are that good really! Nova don't seem to have updated their prices as yet, but on o/c uk the q6600 is £199 down to £176 for this week only!! What do you lot of hardcore build and overclockers think?

going to buy a computer in september, before my 2nd year of Uni.

hope Nova cuts it's q6600's price by then. (also, seeing they are out of stock before 22nd July, i guess all new stocks will be G0 stepping - meaning better temperature, better OC)

The moment Novatech have stock in and drop their prices I'm placing my order for an entire new machine.

This seems about an average price for these. Maybe they need to get rid of the old stock 1st

If you overclock the it would be worth getting the "GO" stepping model. This uses less power (about 10%) and is apparently more over-clockable.

C'mon guys, what's the deal?! I've got a £966 basket at the moment, I'm just waiting for the Q6600 to drop and I'll press the order button! I was hoping to do so today... Unless you're going to tell us you aren't bringing them down?

Elsewhere has them for 170. They should drop into the 160's once competitive pricing engages too.
Novatech isn't the small company it used to be though, so they'll be sure to get plenty of profit from those that don't know any different.
I don't think they have to sell off current stock either. Intel rebates old stock at current prices, else everyone would be screwed when price cuts happened.

Yes disappointing prices from novatech on this q6600 £222 when £176 elsewhere!!!!!!

Well i think they should keep on top of the pricing tbh as they built their reputation on competive pricing and good service, if they lose the pricing the service means nothing!! Big as they have got doesnt mean that they should forget these things, and I am pleased with how quick they have responded to the thread and dropped the prices, maybe I'll do 1 on the non generic ram next lol as that seems the only other area they drop behind!!
Well done novatech you have shown you listen to us!!

yes, and possibly stock more branded RAMs for budget overclockers (eg, low latency (4-4-4-12) RAMs like Gskill)

Yeah but also the ram on other sites is quite a bit cheaper and the choices are quite varied as you say. Slightly off thread but I'll start a new 1 tomorrow I think. If by these threads we bring attention to these things then all well and good. I like shopping at novatech but also want to get the best deals i can.

Phew, I'm glad my order didn't go through! I think I'll wait a month then put it through. Means that the cash saved can go towards a 8800GTS 640mb instead of a 320. :)

i want to know if it's G0 stepping or not.

if it is, run it at 3.2Ghz and have 2 more cores

looky, person with amazing overclocks with G0 and on air (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=152722)

i'd be extremely happy to have 334x9 for q6600 on air. not asking for a lot, but that's the current top chip qx6850. so it'd be enough.

3.8 is very good, it might be able to hit 4Ghz on some very good air cooler with a bit of luck
