Hi all, i'd be ever so greatful if someone could help me. I've just bought a laptop to replace my deskside PC, and the PC has 3 SATA disks in it. Is there an external storage unit that i can buy that will let me put the disks in it and attach it via USB?
Thank you so so much in advance.

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... NOV-35ENCS (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-35ENCS)
Please see that link. I believe that is the kind of thing you are looking for.

Thank you for that, but i was kind of hoping for a unit that might hold upto 4 disks, i dont really want to have 3/4 external disk units each with a usb connection to the laptop, im really after an all in one solution with 1 usb connection that lets me see all the disks at once.
Thanks again
One these (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?ngr-rnd450&P=1) any good ? Needs to be networked rather than USB tho.

That looks a little more like it but its way too pricey. i could prob make do with just a 2 slot unit as 1 of the disks isn't that big.

I am not aware of any product we have that can do what your asking.
I will have a look around but there is nothing that springs to mind that will allow multiple single disks to be all connected via one USB cable at the same time.
If i come across anything i will let you know.

I've just seen this http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... sc101t&P=1 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?ngr-sc101t&P=1) do you think this would do the job?

I had considered this but primarily it is designed for single disk or dual disk operating as a Mirrored RAID.
I am still trying to find out if you can run both disks seperately inside this box to allow both disks to be accessed thats why i not mentioned it.
So at the moment not sure on that yet.
Obviously this is network attached and not USB.

I noticed that it was ethernet attached, would it still be assigned a drive letter and work the same way as a normal disk if it doesn't have to be mirrored?

No you could not use this. See netgear info on moving HDD from PC to SC101
A hard drive that is moved between a PC and the SC101/SC101T will not work
The SC101/SC101T does not use the same data format as a computer disks — so they can't be moved from one to the other without completely reformatting the drives (and destroying the data).

I am afriad that the only thing i can come up with is that the HDD are fitted in to seperate caddies or the PC that these hard drives are in is used to host the drives on to a network as shared drives so that they can be accessed over a LAN or that you purchase a new external storage device with enough capacity to copy your data over to from your 3 drives.
Sorry we could not help further.
