trinity rescue kit or Active@ Password changer, just burn to disk and boot to it.

for windows XP? simple, its really unsecure in its password department

boot up and hit F8 before the windows logo comes up, select safe mode and once loaded there will be an Administrator account with no password and your account with the password, log into the admin account and change password settings as normal.

Job Done :)

ha! you think that's bad, Windows 98 and earlier you didn't need you put a password in if you didn't want to, you could just press escape!

I am uncertain if we should even be discussing this as it's open to abuse.

Microsoft state you can contact a third party for assistance. I normally settle for one decent party, moving to another wastes valuable party time.

And tbh, I would also be a bit happier if someone asked here - at least they will get linked a decent reliable tool rather than one laced with whateverware. There are also companies out there that write and support such tools and sell them legally. They would certainly be shut down (or bought lol) if Microsoft had a legal issue with them.

Just a thought :) at this time of night too!!
