Upgrading Ram for music making

I run several music making programs all at once, do you think that 2gb of ram will suffice or shall i go for 4gb? I am running at 1gb at the moment, and will i have to upgrade anything else, if i upgrade the ram?

2gb, thing is with 4gb, you need a 64 bit operating system to use it all

What apps are you using paul. What style of music are you making? What equipment do you have?

The answer depends on how much audio you are using / How much synths. Remember you'll need good hard drives too if you are loading a lot of high-q audio from disk.
