Novatech Product: LG L226WT 22" (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?LG-L226WT)
after reading this forum (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=31&threadid=2038000&FTVAR_STKEYWORDFRM=&STARTPAGE=8&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear), it seems the WT version is 5ms, while the WTQ version is 2ms with a tiny ghosting in older versions. (4th post in the above linked forum)
could Novatech clarify whether it's WTQ or WT?? (when they arrive in stock, of course)
if it's WTQ, is it dated after March??

Just got this monitor for my gf and with the dvi connection havent seen any signs of ghosting at all, think that is more of a problem when not using dvi d leads. Great monitor looks massive for some reason would recomend for the price cant go wrong

wha?! "with the dvi connection"?
you mean the monitor don't come with a DVI cable....... so will this cable (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?cab-dvi&P=0) do? is this a "DVI D" cable?
and another question: how many years warranty does it have? is it on-site?

Yes it comes with both dvi and normal cables, not sure about the warranty probably 3 years tho.

Grabbed one today, having seen my flatmates and how good it is, turns out the backlight bleed is pretty **** severe. I might have to see about getting an alternate :/

already got mine some time ago, lol.
no ghosting or dead pixels. superb image quality (after 2min configuring)
the backlight bleed is there, yes, but not that i'd notice them during gaming.
best monitor for gaming. better value than the Samsung 22inch (the one with same spec: 3000:1, 2ms)

Hi,
Mine is a L226WTQ and it ghosts pretty badly in games like day of defeat.
Its a beautiful monitor in normal desktop operation, but because of the ghosting I wished I'd bought the samsung instead.
I've bought loads of stuff from Novatech over the years and its a great company, but the tech support was pretty poor in this particular instance - I was asked to update the graphics card drivers, which surprise surprise made no improvement what so ever. My card is a brand new 8600GT
If you're after a normal desktop monitor, its great... but if you want games, my experience is to try a different monitor

Is it ghosting or graphics tearing???????????
I see tearing in a lot of games on all makes of Wide Screen monitor and you need to enable Vsync in game or force vsync from your graphics control panel. this makes sure that the game images are lined up properly before display. It does affect graphics FPS slightly but not enough i believe you would really notice. Well i certainly have not.
After this i have no issues with games at all on this monitor. Everything looks great!!

Hi,
Thanks for the advice. I had already tried it though and it made no improvement (both within game and override in graphics control panel)
I can't tell if its ghosting or graphics tearing, as I'm not sure of the difference, looks like a 'ghost image' to me though

Graphics tearing is for example if you turn very quickly in a game when the image is displayed you might see for example that the bottom half of the screen and the top half of the screen don't line up perfectly for a fraction of second but obviously looks fine when standing still.
Basically it caused by the fact that as the image is being rendered if you turn to fast the image gets misaligned. By activating VSYNC the graphics card makes sure all images are aligned properly thus stopping the tear effect in fast pace movements. However in order to do this it takes a fraction longer processing time so FPS takes a hit.
Ghosting however would be just that. Images would appear to have a faint Shadow or ghost behind them. Kind of what you use to get on a badly tuned TV back in the old days.
How do you connect your monitor VGA or DVI??

OK thanks, that clears it up, its ghosting, like a weird aura around static objects.
It happens (or at least is most noticable) when you're moving or looking around in FPS games (so basically all the time!).
An example would be a corner of a wall, with stone texturing (so basically grey), moving the mosue, and so moving the object you're looking at, will produce a faint yellowish glow / repeat at the edge of the wall and on the wall texture. However the persistent character elements displayed in the view (like your hands + the gun or whatever) will not display ghosting particularly.
Its like the pixels that are being switched on / off / changing colours can't keep up / switch fast enough.
The LG monitor is apparently 2ms response, but my old Hyundai 19"TFT (B91A) does not display any of these issues and is an 8ms (or maybe 5ms, can't remember now!)
BTW I'm connecting via DVi at both ends. The LG monitor has both DVi and Dsub available, but the Gcard has only DVi.
My old Hyundai used to connect Dsub at monitor end, but adaptor to DVi at Gcard end
Thanks for your interest in this issue

I had a similar problem when I received the same monitor. It wasn't exactly ghosting because it didn't trail behind things but in front of them. Mine was a green glow around the edges of some objects and is apparently due to some technological/magic thing they did to get from 5ms to 2ms. As far as I know you can't turn it off but all is not lost...
The problem with my monitor was that it was improperly configured (out of the box!). By opening the service menu* I saw the PANEL setting was set to 'CMO22W 4L'. I changed it to 'LPL22W 4L' and problem solved. There is still some back-light bleed but I don't notice it while gaming, only while watching films. The annoying green glow has vanished. It might be worth trying at least.
*To open the service menu turn off the monitor, hold down the MENU button while turning it back on. That should cause the service menu to pop up instead of the normal one.
I hope it helps. Good luck. It really is a lovely monitor when working properly.

Wow Thanks for that - a MASSIVE Improvement!! I can't tell you how grateful I am, I'd have never found that
The gree glow is now barely noticable, even when it is there at all
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to post a really useful post!
Coops >> thanks for your interest as well. This fix might be worth taking back to the Novatech tech support. It was exactly my problem and exactly cured it
BTW, If you're a moderator, please can you kill my user account (and perhaps this post?) as I've realised I've done the ultimate stupid and used my email address as my username DOH - alternatively point me in the right direction to sort myself
Thanks All

Ooh you have a B91A too. I was thinking of these LG's but had heard bad things about them. Maybe it was due to what you had.

got one not seen any tearing ghosting or slwness best money i ever spent.
on games like call of duty 4 and such just make sure you set up the aspect ratios to 16:10 and tick sync every frame otherwise the widescreen wont sync with the game. every widescreen needs this
