Ok picked up my new phone the N900 last week. What an amazing bit of kit, runs on maemo 5 which is a linux for phones as such. It multitasks with ease, its like a mini netbook. Touch screen could be a little better, but it works fine and is user friendly. Qwerty keyboard is ok to use if your fingers are too big for it there is a bigger onscreen kb to use. Wi-fi is very quick to use, emails easy to set up, runs full skype which is a dream to use when connected to wi-fi. Surfing the net is great, an easy experience. 32gb onboard memory for all your needs lol and a micro sd slot for another 16g if you really need it. All in all what a great bit of kit i absolutely love it.

I would have saved and snapped up this phone if it ran Android...
I know its running a Linux, but it looks to much like Symbian which to me, is old and useless :(
But until i get my hands on one, i shall never know :P

Well not having used the android or symbian this is fresh and new to me and works like a dream so old and useless it really isnt for me. It works and works well and is very new and fresh as the updates are coming thick and fast for it. Not many people are maoning about it either so maybe go and have a play with one in shop.

uhhh i have a symbian phone and i used an n900 at a dev-con in october. maemo is anything but like symbian. it's certainly fresh as a daisy in comparison. nokia are pushing their app platform (which is Qt after they bought them) and totally different to the old symbian way of doing things.
seriously, hitman, have a proper play. it's the last 'real' pocket computer now that M$ has announce that WinPho7 is going to be pretty much like the iPhone OS - i.e. fine for 99% of mouth breathers but not a 'real' mobile OS, just a mobile (single-tasking-ish)app platform.

I have to say this phone is still amazing me with its ease of use, filled 8g of the 32g onboard memory with music and some avi films. Listened to music all day via bluetooth headphones from 8am till 4pm with 1 bar left on the battery. Films play faultlessly on the widescreen and audio on both music and film is also faultless. My only gripe is no MMS as yet but i can live with this as the rest is so dam good!
