Help please!
My mouse (Optical, wired, not USB) has started opening emails and pages instead of selecting them on single click, leaping back 2 pages on websites and assorted other mad characteristics.
I only recently bought it.
All ideas welcome (yes I have checked in control panel, and it says it's working OK!!)
I have tried updating the drivers but they too are OK.
Thanks

start then control panel, then go to the mouse section.........you still with me.
Now configure the mouse, change the sensitivity etc
This could sort your problem out

No sorry- already tried changing things in control panel. (I presume by sensitivity you mean how fast you double click?)
Still keeps opening emails rather than selecting and jumping pages.
Are you using a KVM switch? My mouse at work does a similar thing on occasions. Using the scroll wheel goes back and forth through webpages.
A simple reboot normally fixes that though.
Try uninstalling from the device manager, then rebooting and let windows rediscover the device.

few other options .
remove any old mouse software... some mice use backspace or return on key presses and a new mouse might be set difefrently and go nuts.
check your keyboard have known a stuck key to do this weird but true.
if you get hassles when typing then thats why.
otherwise if wireless make sure know other transmiters are around that might conflict. it is possible to run several in one room but sometimes you get a few funny ones.
