Looks good, if you have a higher budget you might want to get a 5770 instead of a 5750.

The first thing you need to do is remove Internet Explorer! :P

What PSU do you have?

i5 instead of the AMD imo

Hiya

Thanks for your quick replys bugdet is over allready works out at about £718 with vat. I was trying to stick around the £700 mark.

This is the PSU I have at the moment do you think it'll be ok to run all of the above parts? Corsair HX620W.

I do currently have a Samsung 400gb SATA hdd that I could use from my old system should that be ok?

rampageturke,

Thanks for suggesting the i5 rig. Would there be much difference between the 2? AMD CPU 3.40ghz and the i5 750 2.66ghz?

the i5 is quicker

from what i have read it run lower watts and lower voltage making it cooler.

then eventually buy an aftermarket CPU cooler and OC it

Ok and that will be fine for running direct x 11 games on max settings like Crysis Dirt 2 COD etx? Would you say thats more future proof?

DX11 is only present in one of them games (dirt 2), and isnt very big right now, and yes, it will run DX11 games (when it becomes more mainstream) well

and overclock that 5850 if you get it to about 5870 speeds

mr. Strawberry

future proof no

future proof no

yup, pretty much that, dont expect to future proof a gaming pc, but it will last long

mr. Strawberry

i was thinking more along the lines that intel said even before realiseing the LGA 1156 platform that they would be dropping it after i3. all of intels future realises will be for the more pricey LGA 1366

Ok yeah I know nothing is 100% futre proof. Is there a Gigabyte board that has all the same specs as the Asus ones I have always used Gigabyte boards in the past without any problems.

Once I get an after market cpu cooler do you think I'll be able to get it to 3.20 - 3.40ghz?

mr. Strawberry
26-02-2010, 08:45 PM
you could do that easy on the CM hyper 212 plus

rampageturke
26-02-2010, 08:48 PM
you could get it further than 3.4
just wondering, Steven, why is your i5 still at stock :p

Mr. Orange

Cool like the sound of that :)

Are you able to find an Gigabyte board with the same specs as the Asus? Or shall I just sitck with the Asus one.

mr. Strawberry

Would go for that spec mate, You haven't said what res you game at so if you got anything less than a 22" screen a 5850 will be wasted.

Just a quick question I'm looking at getting this ordered and delivered for Wednesday what happens about the GFX card am I correct in thinking that Novatech will not ship the order until they have the GFX card in stock or will it be sent from their suppliers straight out to me?

Mr. Orange

The Asus P7P55D, I can't fault it tbh.
200 is the max setable BCLK rate. and that's what i'm set at :D.

I do advise, you do include a
Prolimatech Megahalems Performance CPU Cooler(also known as the TRUE) (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/Cooling/CPUCoolers/Prolimatech/Megahalems1156.html)
and a
Xigmatek XLF-F1253 - 120mm LED Fan (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/Cooling/Fans100mmplus/Xigmatek/XLF-F1253.html)

It WILL keep your proccessor temps 20C lower than a Zalman CNPS9700. and apparently if you you use AS5 it will go down further. Right now i'm using the thermal paste that came with the Heatsink, and it's running at around 50C with CPU Usage 90%+ on all cores (I'm folding@home, running VirtualBox + another 87 proccesses :D).

PS: the heatsink will take up one of the RAM slots with the fan, so don't buy any more than 4Gb. Also, the RAM channels go: A2 A1 -gap- B2 B1 (for Dual Channel Mode, have an A and a B) So you'll put your Ram sticks into A1 and B1. otherwise your PC wont POST, because the MemOk! checker thing, checks for RAM in the 1st channels 1st.

it is likely they won't ship untill they have the card but go on to live chat tomorrow and ask
if not just do 2 orders

Mr. Orange
26-02-2010, 09:02 PM
Dude!!!!!
you won't be able to hit 3.8Ghz with that RAM in a 1:1 ratio.. the most you can hit from that is... 3.36Ghz..

wizkid
26-02-2010, 09:02 PM
OK thanks mclarenvj, I know its not ideal but I think I'll stick with the stock cooler for a few months and see how things go however when I decide to OC the chip I'll defentley look at getting the cooler that you suggested.. How easy is the stock cooler to fit ?

mr. Strawberry
26-02-2010, 09:03 PM
it is puch pin so really really easy

Mr. Orange

as for the RAM...,
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/Memory-PCAndLaptop/DDR3-PC3-12800/1600MHz/G.Skill/F3-16000CL9D-4GBRH.html

I know it's £120, and some people might say you'll be able to overclock the other RAM you've chosen to cater, but there's no full guarantee that your current RAM will actually run at 2000Mhz..

OK thanks, I take it the case fans that come with the Antec 300 case are ok and I dont need anymore?

Why does he need to run his ram at 1:1? Cant you run it outa sync and slower?

Hi

Thanks for your replies,

I am now looking at getting one of these cards http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/Graphics-ATI/ATIHD5700Series/1163-05-20R.html

I know its not as good as the 5850, but would it still run all the games I want to play ?

Edit- I have a Samsung T240 242 monitor and normally try and run games at 1920/1200
