ati hd 5870

how would a ATI HD 5870 compare to my gtx 285 would it be worth upgrading.

the card im looking at here (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/Graphics-ATI/ATIHD5800Series/XFX/HD-587A-ZNFV.html) and would look at getting a second once i've and have the cash in on my gtx 285s

or should i wait and see how the gtx480 is going to be?

It will be faster obs than a single 285 but 285 sli beats a single 5870 if the game supports sli ok. Unless your struggling in games which i very much doubt u are then wait till nvidia release there's.

to be fair only have one at the moment as my brother has pinched my second as his card failed and hes said he will return or give me the cash at the end of april/ may time.

so i was looking at getting ati and then when he pays up get the second ati and run in crossfire

im only really looking as want dx11 as playing dirt 2 and also wanting to play AVP with the dx11

I've recently got Dirt 2 and have set everything to ultra or high where possible. 1920x1200 with 8xMSAA but with medium post process, with Vsync enabled as I got a little tearing.

And it sometimes drops to 57 fps with vsync enabled, but a really really nice experience I can tell you. :D

I got one yesterday XFX 5870 with AVP, so far its been cool, there is not much in it from the gtx285, its just that i wanted the dx11, i will be getting the second one in a month or so and then setup crossfire
