Lookin to upgrade from a 7600GT which served its purpose but has run its course!!! Struggling to pump out top settings on Rainbow 6 Vegas and LOTR BFME 2!!!

for £170 ish you can get a 8800gts 320mb which is good but @ £100 (not on novatech) you can get a ati x1950xt which is a brilliant card @ that price point you will be happy with either

If your playing on a normal siza monitor 19" 22" the 320mb would be fine but if 24" or more you'd need the 640mb, really good cards though even down to the brightness of the colours it really shines above other cards.

so does that £170 price tag :P although i have seen 320mb's down to £150 @ 1 time it depends how much u wana spend if you dont have as much go for a ati x1950 xt as you can find these very cheap elsewhere if u have money to burn go for the 8800 gts 320mb

I yes the ati is defo the next card i would get also, but if i knew i could get an 8800 by saving for another few weeks i would!! Worth the extra wait for the extra performance and the lil extra future proofing

Might have to go deeper in2 the overdraft :cry: :cry: :cry: to get the 8800GTS looks good!!!

Well dont break the bank to get it, wait a month and then get it or something mind u once you have it u wont need any money as you'll be in gaming al the time. Well worth it though

Depends how thick the person bidding on ebay is :P

8800 GTS's will still sell retail for 150... I'd imagine they'll get phased out pretty quick though.

IMO the current worth of a second hand 8800 is half its retail price. I'm a hard *** when it comes to second hand goods :P. Don't know where they've been.

I think its important to remember that with a decent d/c cpu and and an 8800 will see you into into the next year on full settings on nearly all the games so the new set of cards will be amazingly good im sure but not something that we'll need right now the 8800 will defo last a decent gamer for a year or 2 and if they go right down u can sli, we seem to be quite ahead of ourselves right now what with quads and superduper gfx and nothing to really use it all on lol
