View Full Version : cool question
Hi Guys,
id like to add a 3rd fan to my system, to cool the 2 hard drives & basically to add some air circulation to the whole system
(was thinking of water cooling but tbh i'd rather use my budget to improve it's power/speed + ram soon)
anyway my M/B is a K7 Triton GA-7VT600 (-L) & i see that the 2 fans already installed one is connected to the sys fan connector & the other cpu connector obviuosly  (soz still a newbie at this lark)
i can't see where on the M/B i'd connect the 3rd fan to assist the H/D's i've also searched through the M/B's manual for info but there's nothing to help me
any help & advice is welcome as always

You motherboard may not support connection of more than one fan. The amount of fans that can be connected directly to the mainboard varies from board to board.
If you cannot connect it the mainboard you can connect it directly to the PSU if you fan has the correct connector and if it does not you will need an adaptor.
I just checked your mobo manual and it only shows the 2 fan connectors.
Like Coops says, you will need to get a fan that connects with a standard 4 pin molex connector to the PSU. Look for one with a variable speed controller as a fan connected like this can be quite loud, as it will run at full speed.
Thanks Coops
i had an idea that would be the reply i'd get, their is one psu white block connector left in the system which is being unused atm, so an adapter is required then
can you recommend a decent fan & adapter that would be suitable for the job required? i have looked on the website accessories for a fan
(but can't find an adapter) section but would like a 2nd opinon b4 purchasing?

What size fan do you need??
80mm, 90mm or 120mm
this will depend on what your case can support in the spare spaces for fans.
best go for a 80 mm size to be on the safe side i can always go bigger if need be?,
there's actually quite a good bit of space at the front of the tower
typical because it's rather an old mobo it only accepts 2 fans but leaves no info for upgrading

That looks like room for 2 80mm fans one above the other. Well thats what it looks like =)
Anyway our standard 80mm Fan
EN-8CMFAN has connector to draw power from PSU so this is probably best solution
or if you fancy something a bit quieter
NEX-S8CMFA
yeah thats what i thought (space)
cheers for the product info Coops, it pays to do reserch & ask questions i believe
many thanks guys
