Im looking at a new water loop, as myn seems worse than intels cooler.
anyway, i've gotten to pump choice, im looking at a 3.3 rad (so 9x 120mm fans) cpu, gfx and maybe motherboard blocks, as this loop is BIG, what would you recomend, im not worried about flow speed:
2 of these

or 1 of these

obviously the one with the highest flow rate isnt the obvious winner, but the one with more torque (lol)/power?
thanks

i would choose the 2nd single one i kno i know nxt 2 nothing about wc but my dads a plumber so thats got to count for something :P

Lol yeah me too i know nothing about w/c in my brain water and elecricity just dont mix and with my tt v1 giving such excellent cooling i see no need to risk my hard earned machine to plastic tubes and monkey clips lol

way too many rads and fans for your machine, people always go ott, you get a larger rad so you dont need as many fans, so less noise.

But i would choose the second pump

okies, well i was told id need a quad rad for everything i want to cool, and the 3x3 was cheaper, so ill get that, only going to have 4 fans running 24/7 on it then goto 9 for OC's!

who told you that you needed a quad rad??
That is complete rubbish

well to allow for all the upgradesi want, which allows for sli 8800gtx, or 9800gtx, mobo and quad cpu OC, what would you say?

a triple 120mm rad with 1/2 inch fittings should be sufficient with just 3 fans running at 7v
but if you have the money, plus somewhere to mount that giant thing, then go for it

err, i may go for dual triple's then, amnd run them at 5v or so :)
more fans= better looking (in a performance way).

not really, more fans just equal more noise
water temperature can only go so low, then once its there, you can have as many fans as you want, and it wont make a single bit of difference

Basically, your wasting your money because you dont know anything about watercooling

lol, i know a bit, but not how many rads i need :( anyway, im getting 2 pumps, and 2 loops, too look cool, ill decide on rads when i know more info, but thanks for the advice, ill probs get trips.

1 loop would be fine, wont effect temps too much.
If your going for dual loops then the absolute max for each loop would be a dual 120mm rad with 1/2" fittings
Even a single 120mm rad would do the trick for each loop.
People go way over the top with this sort of stuff, same as power supplies

lol, ok, so what would you recomend? if i go for a single loop, 1/2" all the way, an OC q6600, my mobo and my gfx card?
would a triple suffice?
triple and single?
cheers

single loop
1/2" fittings
triple rad
3 fans
7v
Should do fine
It also depends on how good your blocks are
And how long the tubing you have is

im going for a d-tek fusion and ek striker mofset set, ill also get the ek gpu block.
will that get me cool as it can go temps?

Trust me, it will run cooler and quieter than you are running now with all those fans in there

teknokid
23-08-2007, 01:36 PM
but would it be cooler with more rad? or will a triple not have been saturated?

more rads, equal more flow restrictions

teknokid

then boost the pump. lol, but yeah, i'm gonna buy all the gear around xmas time.

1 rad, 1 pump =better performance, more pumps=more heat, they do create some heat
more rads =reduced water flow which =more heat

hm... well i guess ill have to see how it pans out then :)

I always thought that WC replaced fans altogether :S

nope, you still need to get the heat away from the water
there are fanless set-ups available

cape-cora's are a good example
