Hi norm,

I use linux mint, and i use 2 adaptors that work right out the box, netgear and linksys,

Another good one that is reccommended on the mint forums is safecom.

Oh and i would use WPA2 WPA if you are using older equipment, but not WEP, you might as well invite all and sundry in if you are going too use WEP.
