well, what can i say, 5th windows re-install today.
my ram wouldnt go over 1000mhz, fair enough i could live with that.
but now!!!
omg, how ****!
It corupts windows if i overclock at all, even overclocks that i have used since i had the mobo, something has gone very wrong.
im emauiling asus, i WILL get it sorted, whether a replacement or refund, refund being favoured.
thanks asus :S

how is your windows currupting? do you think its your mobo messing up your hd? explain your symptoms as i might have the same!!

teknokid
30-08-2007, 06:16 PM
oops, some of it was human error, but there is still many problems on going.
turns out a ram stick was looose, but the board still posted?
so, a word of warning, when using ram coolers, make sure the clips are tight and in place.
now i goto sort out all the OC problems..

teknokid
30-08-2007, 06:17 PM
well, are you getting coruptions too?
im hoping it was the loose ram causing that problem, but its happened in the past anyway, and still happens when using a FSB higher than 1600 or so, and they market it as a 2000fsb board...

what do you mean with your cmos?

teknokid
31-08-2007, 09:09 AM
hm, its all a bit complicated just to make it work, i mean it should just work in the 1st place!!!

Jonny2Bad
31-08-2007, 01:10 PM
yes i think your right it should just work in the 1st place, but it doesnt when you boot up does your lcd show the error cpu innt? If so this could be the problem so to properly clear your cmos of all errors you have to do that which will take about 2 hrs. What a madness!!!!

teknokid
31-08-2007, 02:35 PM
i dont get cpu-init as far as i know.
cmos clear button? always works for me :)

Jonny2Bad
31-08-2007, 03:25 PM
What i think is the prob is that the button doesnt totally clear everything up so it gets clogged and messes up

teknokid
31-08-2007, 04:13 PM
i blieve booting without ram clears errors.

You bought a bleeding edge motherboard, expect problems and expect to wait a year+ for bios updates to solve them. If you want it to work right out of the box, buy something that isn't so highly strung! The amout of grief it took to get my dfi lanparty working was not worth the extra 1% speed it gave, hence my current mobo is a P5W64 pro, workstation board with an intel chipset. Does what it say on the tin, and i've had... hmmm, no problems that weren't to do with running something too hot!

Nox

ok, wait another year :) that chipset was barely out when you bought it. don't worry i had the same with my nf4 mobo, was a nightmare for 6 months, then 1 bios update and bam, i can't even remember problems now. you have 2 gfx cards now?

Well the maximus is out soon, they would be better off working on getting this board right 1st lol. Oh well lesson learned and all that

teknokid
04-09-2007, 03:57 PM
but then u havee to waitfor a bios for that.

Jonny2Bad
04-09-2007, 04:01 PM
Yes thats the point i was making!!

04-09-2007, 04:19 PM

Nox

You might be ok with the maximus, intel chipset right? I think you have found out pretty much why every workstation motherboard uses intel chipsets :D

i don't think i'll be upgrading my mobo for 2 years now, may get a new gfx card in nov/dec or a laptop, undecided.

teknokid
05-09-2007, 04:18 PM
oh :( ill stay with blitz if i get a new mobo then

Jonny2Bad
05-09-2007, 04:24 PM
If you wait for the blitz formula it has a water block installed in the copper piping already so i would wait for that

teknokid
05-09-2007, 05:00 PM
thats what im after, novatech sell it already. im thinking £100 to WC my striker or £160 for a blitz, ifthe bios is still bad ill go blitz.

You bought a gargage asus motherboard, expect problems and expect to wait forever for bios updates to solve them.

Fixed.

Tekno. You are too vague. You are blaming the board. How do you know it's not the cpu? You bought 667 ram too... While Asus are rubbish, i'd be dissapointed if they refunded you. You have no gounds for a refund. The product works.

There is a solution to this though. Stop buying rubbish motherboards. £250. What a rip off. There are plenty of better boards for half that price.
