Hello Novatech community!

Well im looking at buying the iRush Pro form NT after recently being mugged at Pc World. If ONLY i knew about Novatech before hand :rolleye: !!. Anyways after doing the research (as you do when spending £700) i came across this site, and it looked like a homely place. Soooo here i am, ready to learn more about playing with the insides of pc's and etc

1st question i want to learn how to over clock without destroying my pc, ive herd the i5 750 is a "beast" to overclock (upto 4Ghz) but i sont want to try this and my pc to go up in smoke. So i was wondering if there was like an idiots guide to overclocking

2nd question, what voids my warenty, openning the case?, changing the Gfx card? overclocking?

Any help would be great
Thanks
Steve

warranty is kept for allot of things other shops wouldn't allow. at novatech they encourage you to take apart and add its to your pc (understandable as its a pc shop)

you can have a look in the guides section and there's loads of stuff you can learn there.

Hi SteveJA, and welcome.

The iRush Pro is not a born overclocker. The Intel motherboard bios and power handling is not made for it. :(

The AMD Recoiler model at £40 more is more of an enthusiast model. It has an extra graphics slot for adding an extra HD 5770 card later, which is looking like an ace combination at high resolution like 1920X1200 on newest DX11 games.

AMD Black Editions are easily overclocked using AMD Overdrive or bios multiplier adjustment along with VCore.

Novatech warranty generally covers all parts bought from Novatech, including upgrades.

If you overvolt something, don't like capacitors or something melt etc...

If you can't tell...
does that mean... I can destroy my motherboard by running a lot of volts through it.. and i'd still be eligible for an RMA?

They can tell if you have caused damage in that way.

so it does VOID warranties?

It does. But Premium motherboards are expected to be used for overclocking. Some overclocking burn-outs can be spotted from processor and socket damage. I believe Novatech try to find a balance with their suppliers and customers on this. Unfortunately, if you do damage through ignorance and negligence, you will strain this relationship.

Putting excessive voltage through your mobo until the point it starts bursting caps, yes. However this is very very unlikely.

ahh, so this is why my Asus P5K Premium actually got accepted for an RMA..
I was sticking a E8200 @ 4Ghz (540Mhz FSB) through it 24/7

Welcome to the forum, you could always ring up and ask what with void the warranty on a machine, i'm sure they would be able to explain.

Cheers for all the replys,

Although my computer knowledge is somewhat poor, looking online i was lead to belive the i5 is better than any AMD chip out at the moment, is this not true then???
And would you advise me towards that pc instead?

To oscar, well im stuck in an office for 8 hours a day, so i thinks its safe to say il probs be round for a while lol!

Oh yeah, how come that Recoiler isnt in the gaming section? It looks like it should be . . .
