possibly, my water isnt that greater loop, came with my case.
anyway, all i can say is im very happy, everything works in vista too, apart from my x-fi, which is kinda a shame :(
ill try overclocking soon though :)

Havent microsoft done something with the sound on vista so the cards dont work properly, im sure i read that somewhere, I'm not going to vista yet, i'll wait for crysis and if its really that much better with vista i might consider it then

sound card now works, you have to get the mobo drivers from nvidia not asus. Sound sounds better on vista, and the drivers make x-fi work in vista.

I'm gonna get 1 of those sound cards i think, heard some good things about them!!
teknokid

why not just go quad?
JDowdall
18-09-2007, 04:57 PM
cos amd willl get ther act together and in conjunction will use there graphics department 2 get games optimised for 3 core not atm ther is no point in quad core as most are dual core optimised so with 3 core u have 1 core running the os and background tasks and the other 2 playing games oh and it will be cheaper and evry1 luvs amd!

What sort of overclock are you getting teknokid,i can post into windows at 3.8, however far from stable and it needs to many volts to be stable at 3.6, so happy sat at 3.4... whats 200mhzin real world difference anyway 8)

Ha. Big mistake. This is a way to recycle faulty quads. Not to say it's a bad idea, it just shows how weak AMD is at the moment.
AMD are done. I really wouldn't bother with them for performance for at least 2 years. If we're talking budget systems then by all means use them. Cheap as chips. That's one reason why they are losing 600m a quarter.

That should help you out seems if you go back a bios or so you wont have any probs with o/c on the striker, these chaps have got a q6600 running at over 3.8g on strikers. Research your problems b4 giving up so easily my young friend!!!

wow, thats incredibly interesting. that would make sense, scan got a fast quad out of it using water, it seems a common thing.
Ill have to try out new volts, and if that doesnt work ill give the water block a shot.
CHEERS!!

teknokid
13-10-2007, 01:07 PM
yep, I mmean I by no means was trying hard with that, I put in the settings from that post, put vcore to 1.45 to make sure that wouldn't limit it and hey presto it worked.
only upto 1333 mhz I tried so far, I'm sure ill work out the max when I can water cool the vrm's coz they really must've been toasting.
