Hi,

Does anyone know if the new release includes the proprietary Realtek driver for the WiFi card in the Xplora E16?

I was going to buy one a while back but never got round to it, and the plan was to stick Fedora 12 on it (which works great with my Acer netbook), but I'm now setting this up for a Linux Mint user rather than myself, and just want it to work rather than be quirky. Another thread on here and on the mint forums indicates that Mint 8 will not work with the WiFi driver, so I'm turning to Ubuntu.

Does anyone know if Ubuntu will work straight off the disk with wireless internet?

Thanks!

Mine does. I have a cheapie novatech usb wireless that worked straight away with ubuntu 9.10 and after i went 10.4. Got to be worth trying. :) This is with both a bt hub and an o2 adsl 2 router, works no problem.(make was addon i think for the wifi dongle)

Man i hate it when people say things like this. I wouldn't blame Ubuntu for the problems either, it's the closed nature of 99% of hardware companies.

I have only a total of 3 times in the past 4 years had any problems with drivers. The same can't be said for Windows when i use it.

Try a Live CD/USB and you can then see for yourself (easily the best way), for me it works perfectly.
