personal data recovery

I have had a major problem with my pc and looks like i'll be replacing it -
I cannot access the HDD contents with the pc so have been trying to save my personal files by using an external drive case and my laptop - problem is that i cannot get access to my "documents and settings " file

please help - how can i get in there?

and no and was not sensible enough to have done a full back up recently :cry:
