Apple's Steve Jobs today published an article where he openly justifies Apple's views on Flash, Adobe and the future of encoding and decoding on mobile devices. This comes after the criticism that Apple has faced for not endorsing the backbone of the web on their portable devices.

I have to say, i can completely see where he's coming from on a lot of points. Most flash based games would be unplayable on a touch screen device like an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, and would need complete overhauls...
Flash websites are extremely annoying... Support for flash video would be nice though :/

With the advent of HTML 5 it would be justified if the decision were to be made now, but it isn't being made now, it was made long ago when the justification was less compelling.

An interesting explnation from Steve Jobs.
HTML 5 is an open standard that will run on all computers and graphics cards, and is evidently less power consuming than proprietory Adobe Flash.
Linux users will appreciate what that means.

im all for open standards.. just because someone jumps up and down somewhere its usually because someone elsewhere will lose money at the prospect... rather than dedicating resources to come up with another solution

I extremely appreciate what that means........ no ****** proprietry software, badly designed by Adobe as they don't care about linux users.

the only problem is that the 'sub standard' apps will still appear. Like heaters, to torches and Bloons!!
Apps should only be approved if they actually have a use. Like twitter
(BTW, the offical twitter app is rubbsih. i moved back to twitteriffic striaght away)
